Job Summary: Healthcare professional who specializes in using laser technology for therapeutic purposes. This role typically involves working in medical or cosmetic settings where lasers are employed for various treatments. The therapist combines nursing skills with expertise in laser technology to provide safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ medical histories and conditions to determine the suitability of laser treatments referred by the General Practitioner.
Evaluate patients’ skin type, sensitivity, and potential risk factors.
Treatment Planning:
Develop personalized treatment plans based on the patients’ needs and desired outcomes.
Determine appropriate laser settings and techniques for specific conditions.
Laser Procedures:
Administer laser therapy for medical or cosmetic purposes, such as skin resurfacing, hair removal, or scar reduction.
Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during laser treatments.
Patient Education:
Educate patients on pre- and post-treatment care instructions.
Provide information on potential side effects, risks, and expected outcomes.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments, progress, and any adverse reactions.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to share relevant patient information.
Equipment Maintenance:
Monitor and maintain laser equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Follow protocols for cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
Continuing Education:
Stay informed about advancements in laser technology and therapeutic techniques.
Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) license Certification in laser therapy or a related field
Strong understanding of laser safety protocols Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
